At the entrance of Wasungen, the town praises itself as a carnival and half-timbered town. Carnival? In the middle of Thuringia? But hello! The Wasunger are already celebrating the 483rd Carnival Session (more tradition than Cologne!) And of the 3,500 inhabitants, 2,000 are active in the carnival. There are handmade evenings, a rag ball and of course removals. Nature conservation also plays a role in carnival - the white stork was already the star of a carnival group. The Carnival greeting from Wasungen is not Helau and not Alaaf, but "Ahoi" because of the rafting tradition on the Werra.
