The Eichsfelder Kreuz stands on a hill about 350m above sea level. NHN below the Hülfenberg.
Due to the establishment of the (former) Innderdeutsche border it was no longer possible for the neighboring Eichsfeldern living in Hesse to visit the cross, a place of pilgrimage.
The Kolonnenweg is also very well preserved at this point.
