Road cycling

For the construction of the main train station in Leipzig at the beginning of the 20th century, gravel was used that was taken from the ground in Wahren near the former "Hundewasser", a tributary of the White Elster. The remaining pit was filled with water to form the current Auensee. In 1908, the "Bank für Grundbesitz Leipzig" planned an amusement park there, which was opened in 1912 as "Lunapark". In 1911, construction began on the main restaurant, today's Auensee house. The new building was accepted for construction on May 5, 1914.
