In the past Altzella Monastery was the most important Cistercian abbey in Central Germany. Today the complex is a romantic landscaped park with medieval ruins and gardens.
The park is open from April to October Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and on weekends and public holidays from 10am to 6pm.
