The Lukasklause is a late Gothic former defense tower in Magdeburg, some of which dates from the Middle Ages. Today the building is used as the Otto von Guericke Museum.
In the area surrounding the tower there are still old walls of former parts of the Magdeburg city fortifications. Remains of the so-called New Plant in the form of a roundel have been preserved north and east of the tower. Remains of a fortress railway gate from 1851 are also noteworthy.

Otto von Guericke had the air pumped out of two hemispheres and horses harnessed to them. The horses failed to separate the bullets. With this he proved the air pressure.

Striking is the defense tower with the remaining walls. Today the Otto von Guericke Museum is located there.
