It was built in a place near the Primaro to spend pleasant days of rest and hence most likely the name, Benvignante, which sounds like a welcome or a wish. Although it is part of the typology of country villas, it had a non-secondary defensive function and political representation of the Este power, well represented by the crenellated tower with a pavilion vault that stands in the center of the building.
