Cannery Row is the coastal street and tourist district of Monterey, California. It takes its name from the many cannery factories that were built and operated here between 1895 and around 1950. The street was formerly called Ocean View Avenue, and the nickname is now official. After the collapse of the sardine fishery, the street became Monterey's tourist center.
