The Camron-Stanford House was built in 1876, about 150 years ago. It is the last of the beautiful 19th-century mansions that were built around Lake Merritt. Its graduates played an important role in helping develop Oakland and California. In 1971, the house was saved from demolition, and the house and gardens were restored. Visitors today can visit the historic, era-decorated house.
