The Offaquelle is a freshwater spring, which lies today in the loop. It is linked to a legend about King Offa. He is said to have been King of the Angles, a young but sick man who was said to have bathed here in the spring and thus gained health. The city has built a well on the beach in memory of the now silted up source.

Hiking
The right source has now been swallowed up by the loop, this is a replica and perhaps the shortest watercourse in the world - it is around ten meters from the source to the mouth.
