Oppenwehe is one of the oldest places in today's Stemwede, limited by the parishes Preussisch Ströhen, Rahden, Wehdem, Brockum and Wagenfeld (Lower Saxony). After Preussisch Ströhen, it is the most northern congregation of the Lübbecke church district and one of the northernmost congregations of the Evangelical Church in Westphalia.
