Hiking
A nice starting point for climbing Mt. Tochal 3900m on the outskirts of Tehran is Darband. Tell the taxi driver Tochal Darbant. If you just say Tochal, he will drive you to the cable car valley station.
The first km through the narrow gorge with the roaring mountain stream is lined with restaurants and snack bars. Quite funny to watch.....

Hiking
and the Tochal area, including the peaks, can be explored via easily recognizable, easy hiking trails. In exposed areas, the paths are perfectly secured.
