This elaborately designed wayside cross would certainly deserve a more dignified, somewhat more beautifully designed environment. Unfortunately, at least during the growing season, it is not noticed enough, because the cross, which stands a little off the path, can easily be overlooked due to the vegetation around it. This small sacred monument, built in Celtic style, is certainly worth seeing and would invite passers-by to take a little spiritual rest.

Sometimes hard to find as can be obscured by the undergrowth. On the opposite side of the path to the Celtic Cross, is a memorial stone to Bridget Talbot, a remarkable woman who among her achievements is: Inventing a watertight torch for life belts to give sailors gone overboard a better chance of rescue; Saving the Ashridge Estate from developers so that it could be preserved for all of us via the National Trust
