Hiking

It is noteworthy that the teeth of the comb wheel are made of wood. They only "lie" in the grooves of the comb wheel, which means that they can be quickly replaced when worn.

Old comb wheel of the Rommelmühle power plant from 1904 with wooden parts. At the end of the turbine, the comb wheel transferred the energy to a small, rapidly rotating gear, the shaft of which operated the generator. It was only replaced by a modern gearbox in 1997.

The pinion wheel was part of the mill's gear system to convert the kinetic energy of the wheels into extremely rapid rotation. The Rommel mill, built in 1904, was initially operated using water power from the Enz river from the former Bissingen sawmill.
