A church with history: the church, built in 1325, was originally the monastery church of the Cistercian nunnery at Segensral. It later became the home of the Evangelical parish of St. Stephan.
Another piece of jewelry is the baptism angel, which “flies” over the altar and floats down for baptisms. The angel was designed by the organ builder and sculptor Breda in 1762.

Today's St. Stephen's Church of the Evangelical Lutheran community of Vlotho formerly belonged to the Cistercian monastery and later the Cistercian monastery of Gnadental (“Vallis benedictionis”). The thick walls of St. Stephen's Church have been preserved throughout the eventful history of the blessing valley monastery, built in 1325, through the time of the Reformation and the founding of the Evangelical Lutheran parish in 1560 until today.

The church was built around 1300 as St. George for the Segenstal monastery in Vlotho, which has existed since 1252. After the Reformation the monastery church was used as St. Stephan for the Lutheran congregation. In 1659/60 the church was extended by a second nave. The interior of the church is worth seeing.
