Over 13,000 Soviet soldiers were buried here in the Schönholzer Heide. They fought in the liberation of Berlin in 1945.

As a memorial to the many war dead, such places are still very important today. "Now, Lord, let your servant go in peace, as you said." However, those buried here, who are commemorated with the memorial, did not divorce in peace, but became victims of war and tyranny.
The most important function of the military cemeteries or war cemeteries is therefore to remind people of the lasting preservation of peace.

Impressive Soviet memorial (mini-edition of the memorial in Treptower Park). The Red Army has liberated Germany from fascism (together with the then Allies France, United-Brittany and the USA) and to mourn most of the victims. Dignified place.
