The Bassum central landfill has existed since 1978. From 1989 the facility was gradually expanded to become the Bassum waste disposal center. In the 90s, modern waste treatment plants such as B. a pre-treatment plant for residual waste (RABA) and a composting plant.
Part of the closed landfill was opened to the public in 2007. In a competition in which several hundred proposals were submitted, the name Bassumer Utkiek emerged. The final recultivation is planned for 2012.
The new opening is on October 3rd + 4th, 2020
