Portus Lemanis, sometimes known as Stutfall Castle, is a Roman fort that was built around 270 AD. Archaeological evidence shows that the site was used as a naval base prior to this, though. Not much survives of the once-mighty fort today but it is still a fascinating place to explore and affords some lovely views over the landscape and out to sea.
