Hard to believe: the Roman aqueduct, which used to be a good 95 kilometers long, supplied Roman Cologne with 20 million liters of fresh water every day. Here you can still admire some relics of this masterful building.

The Eifel aqueduct - also known as the Roman Canal or Roman Aqueduct to Cologne - was one of the longest aqueducts of the Roman Empire and is considered to be the longest aqueduct north of the Alps. The system supplied the Roman city of Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium, ancient Cologne, with water for the public fountains, thermal baths and private house connections.
