At 630 meters, the old Ansbach Hohenzollern Fortress of Wülzburg towers over Weißenburg. The floor plan of the Wülzburg forms an almost regular pentagon, a pentagon. This had ballistic and structural advantages over the older square or rectangular systems. The castle was built between 1588 and around 1610.
