The Thomashardt water tower is the landmark of the municipality of Lichtenwald, visible from afar. To this day, it combines its technical function of securing the local water supply with a striking artistic design. In 1996, the facade was extensively renovated and artfully redesigned by the local artist couple René and Anette Heinze. The upper part of the tower is adorned with a colorful mosaic of over 30,000 to 55,000 ceramic pieces. The motif forms blue and yellow drops, which symbolically represent the overflowing of the water tower and pay homage to the elixir of life, water.

Beautifully designed water tower in Lichtenwald. Visible from afar, the functional building gains significance through its extraordinary design.
Created by Angie and René Heinze from Atelier Heinze (raj-heinze.de), who not only design sculptures, facades, or gardens in the surrounding area.
