The area in the northwest of the city is home to fallow deer, ponies, dwarf goats and a stubborn family of donkeys. There are also guinea pigs, rabbits, swans, geese and bantams. The male peacocks, who move freely in the Sahnpark and proudly show off their magnificent plumage to visitors, sometimes have a few "starry airs". The animal enclosure is completed by an adventure playground, a nature trail and a "green classroom". This is primarily available for school and kindergarten children. The animal enclosure can be visited at any time of day. Admission is free. Source:https://www.crimmitschau.de/de/tiergehege.html

There are three large, shady linden trees near the Sahnpark near Crimmitschau. It is said that a shepherd from the Frankenhausen manor was once sentenced to death for theft, although he protested his innocence until the last moment. He then asked for the mercy of being allowed to plant three young linden trees upside down on the place of execution. If the trees planted in this way survived, this could be seen as a sign of his innocence, but if they withered, he would be guilty of theft. The shepherd was executed, but the trees he had planted in the ground with their branches before his death flourished as a testament to his innocence.
