I also stopped at the Bismarck Tower with the cycling tour group. Unfortunately, the tower is closed (first week of June 2024)

The hiking trail with the trees along the edge looks like an avenue.

Even though the tower was closed, it was still worth a short visit. An impressive building. And next to the tower there is a covered bench, which is a good place to take a break.

The Bismarck Column was built from 1901, but it took 4 years to complete. It was built as a lookout tower, which is only accessible on certain dates. It is also remarkable that the Bismarck column stands on a burial mound. This dates from the Bronze Age and is one of 3 burial mounds at this point. In 1894 the burial mound had already flattened out to just 1 m. At the Bismarck Tower there is more information about the burial mound and the tower itself. There is also a modern shelter with a view of the tower and a hiking map. A nice intermediate destination on the tour!

Now there is also a new, small refuge here. Very nice, hopefully there won't be any rioting here...
