The laundress at the Beecker Bridge in Bad Bramstedt vigorously wrings out her clothes, unaware that she would one day go down in history. According to legend, the Danish King Christian IV saw the young woman washing clothes while riding through Bramstedt in 1625 and fell in love with her. She later became his partner and the mother of two children. Whether the story unfolded exactly as it was is disputed. What is undisputed is that the farmer's daughter Wiebeke Kruse, born around 1605 in Puls (Steinburg district), became the king's mistress and died in Copenhagen on April 28, 1648.

Nearby there are several stork nests (at least in summer 2023 well visited) close to the road. In winter the storks are fed extra.

The origin of the Wiebke Kruse has not yet been clarified. Danish sources partly assume a Danish origin, but the vast majority of publications assume an origin from Holstein. You can read their story here: http://foehrden-barl.de/wiebke-kruse/ https://www.bvv-bb.de/projekte/wiebke-kruse-statue/

The core of the red brick church dates from the late 13th century. It is one of the few examples of new brick churches built outside of the urban centers in Holstein.
