Sailor Jonas Kötz Carved from an old dolphin from the port of Hamburg, the sailor has been watching over the nature and adventure park from the waters of Lake Vörder since 2013. The friendly, bulbous-nosed figure, weighing 500 kg, towers three meters above the water's surface. The sailor was created by sculptor and illustrator Jonas Kötz, whose figures have found their way from his studio on Krautsand to many places. The wood from which the figure was made is called Basralocus and comes from Suriname. This type of wood was favored for the construction of port facilities in the first half of the last century. It is all the more fitting that the sailor, made from this wood, now watches over Lake Vörder. We would like to thank the Bremervörder Zeitung, the sponsor of this sculpture, for its kind support.
