From the 11th century, the lords of Andoins were important figures, members of the Cour Majour of the Viscount of Béarn. The castle was probably burned down as a result of a plot against Gaston Febus, Viscount of Béarn from 1343 to 1391, in which Baron Raymond d'Andoins participated.
