"Mama, does Rapunzel live there?" 🏰 When your kids discover the water level gauge tower in the middle of the water, their imagination immediately kicks in! Unfortunately, you can neither go inside nor swim over to it (we remind you: strict drinking water protection!), but the structure is a brilliant visual anchor. When little legs start to feel heavy, use the tower as a stage goal: "Who will reach the tower's height first?". A great photo spot and an exciting eye-catcher that makes the flat route extremely entertaining! 🗼 Checked & found to be absolutely family-relaxed by @wanderfamilie.erzgebirge

The Neunzehnhain I Dam is located in the Bornwald forest near the Ore Mountains town of Pockau-Lengefeld. It was built between 1905 and 1908 to supply the burgeoning industrial city of Chemnitz with drinking water. The dam was put into operation the same year it was completed. However, it proved too small for the growing demand. Therefore, just three years after completion, construction of the Neunzehnhain II Dam began. The two "sisters" are essentially the same design.

The dam is connected to the Neunzehnhain I and II dams and the Einsiedel dam via canals, pipelines, tunnels, and streams. A charming landscape conservation area of approximately 4,500 hectares extends around the Saidenbach Dam.
