The alms chapel was built around 1880 by Karl Anton Amberger as an act of thanks for the recovery of his seriously ill daughter. In his will dated August 3, 1914, he bequeathed the chapel to the Institute of St. Dominic in Speyer in gratitude for the care he had given a relative. For decades, sisters of the Dominican order also taught at the local school and served in the Catholic parish church. In 2001, the last sister of the congregation left Rülzheim.
