This small sacred monument, which the hiker encounters here at a crossroads on the historic Way of St. James, is in need of renovation, as the body of the crucified Christ is unfortunately damaged. The stone base from which the cross extends is covered with some stones that were obviously left there. This custom comes from the well-known "Crux de ferro" on the "Camino Frances" in northern Spain. According to tradition, the pilgrims also lay aside their worries and troubles with the stones that they carry there, sometimes over many days and weeks.

Here the canal joins the meanders of the Yonne on several small segments. This is an opportunity to discover the river up close at the Parc woods.

This small village is located in a rich geological location. It is on the border of the limestone plateau of Burgundy and the granite Morvan. Only 540 people live here. Here you will find several wine merchants and even a grocery store open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

We may pass Cravant, located on the national 6, more than we stop there, and that's a shame. This village indeed conceals interesting witnesses of the Middle Ages, starting with a keep from the beginning of the sixteenth century and flanked by an elegant octagonal turret. This dungeon was used as a prison: Templars, in particular, were locked up there. It was also a watchtower during the Hundred Years War. Cravant also retains a 22-meter high semi-circular belfry nicknamed the "Tour du Guette" or "the Clock Tower". This was once part of the ramparts.
