The Probstei Museum Harbour in Wendtorf is located at the exit of the Kiel Fjord, behind the Bottsand spit, and is particularly valued by traditional ship owners as a starting harbour for sailing trips into the western Baltic Sea. In the museum harbour, the "Association for the Appreciation of Traditional Sailing and Coastal Culture" presents a selection of regionally typical fishing vessels, as they were built up to the 19th century. Exemplary are the "Beeke Sellmer" wader boat, the "Pram fra Hjerting", the hull of a "Quase" standing on the promenade square, and a crab cutter from the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein. In addition to these fishing vessels, other museum boats are also moored here, such as a Viking boat, a Smakkejolle, and a customs cutter.

In addition to the Holm in Schönberg, five apartment buildings for holiday guests were also built in the municipality of Wendtorf. A marina was also built there on the Kiel Outer Fjord, which today serves as a marina between the Bottsand nature reserve and the coast, providing moorings for around 850 sailboats and motorboats. The area around the marina is still primarily used to accommodate holiday guests. The new holiday park, with its modern apartments and houses, has been attracting even more visitors since 2016. The new construction has also ushered in a wave of modernization in many areas, something that holidaymakers can look forward to. Those who rent accommodation on the upper floors with a sea view here not only enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea. The ships sailing in and out of the fjord are exciting to watch.

The Heidkate Lighthouse is located in Heidkate on the Baltic Sea coast between the Kiel Fjord and Hohwacht Bay in the Kolberger Heide, north of Wendtorf. It serves as a warning light and indicates the restricted times for the firing practice areas in Putlos and Todendorf. It displays a yellow signal during firing in Todendorf, and a red signal during firing in Putlos, each at a five-second interval. When firing is taking place in both practice areas, it displays the red and yellow signals alternately. The lighthouse, along with the towers in Hubertsberg, Neuland, Wessek Lighthouse, Blankeck Lighthouse, and Heiligenhafen, is one of a series of lighthouses on the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast used to secure the restricted area. To monitor environmental radioactivity, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection installed an ODL probe on the lighthouse property. It serves as a radioactive early warning.
