🍰🍵🧭 Dornum Tea Room easily mistaken for Old Bakery The risk of confusion is high, as both buildings are located just a few steps apart in the historic center of Dornum and both exude that unmistakable, rustic charm.

The oldest grave still in the Jewish cemetery is that of Aaron Levi, who died in 1721 and whose widow was able to purchase the Jewish cemetery for the Jewish community in 1723 through an inheritance purchase agreement. About 200 burials took place in the cemetery. Today, 36 gravestones with 43 names remain. Around 160 gravestones were broken and removed during the National Socialist era. The site, originally located outside the town, is now at the end of Marktstraße. It was initially rented, but was later purchased in 1723. It served as the burial ground for Jewish victims from Dornum until 1938. During the so-called Reichskristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass), the cemetery was destroyed, the gravestones removed, and stored on Marktstraße, or repurposed. By Allied order, the remains were restored here after the war.

The Dornum Jewish Cemetery is a Jewish cemetery in the municipality of Dornum in the Aurich district. The entrance to this cemetery is at the end of Marktstrasse. The Dornum Jewish community was assigned the property in 1721 by the local authorities. The land in front of the town was initially rented and was bought in 1723. Until 1938, the Jewish dead from Dornum were buried in this cemetery. During the so-called Kristallnacht, documents about the cemetery and the Jewish community were burned on the market square. The property was subsequently sold for 150 Reichsmarks. The gravestones were removed and stored on Marktstrasse. Around 150 gravestones were repurposed. After the Second World War, the cemetery was restored on Allied orders. Since no documents were available, the remaining 36 gravestones could no longer be assigned to a grave. Source: Wikipedia
