M67 The tram locomotive M67 is the first diesel locomotive to be put into service in 1937 by the then Rotterdamsche Tramweg Maatschappij (RTM). The fully restored locomotive is one of the attractions in the depot of the RTM Museum in Ouddorp. Not only from a technical point of view, but also from a cultural-historical point of view. In 1909, the RTM was established on the island: from Middelharnis via Sommelsdijk, Dirksland, Melissant, Stellendam and Goadereede to Ouddorp. And in the other direction: from Middelharnis via Nieuwe-Tonge and Oude-Tonge to Ooltgensplaat, on the eastern tip of the island. Connections to the ports of Dirksland, Oude-Tonge and Ooltgensplaat were established especially for freight transport. In total, about 45 kilometers of tram tracks were laid on the island, often next to normal roads. The M67 was used by the RTM after the war. Passenger traffic in Goeree-Overflakkee was stopped in 1956. A year later, freight traffic also ended, and a small stretch of track between the port and the station remained in use in Middelharnis until 1961. Some of the equipment went to the museum in Utrecht, another part to a foundation in Hellevoetsluis. There a group of volunteers maintained a small, historical process. In 1989 it moved to Ouddorp, where a five-kilometer tram line with a depot with the RTM museum was built in 1992.
