Despite being an ancient wood with hardwood, during the 20th century, it was replanted with softwood, although a large portion of the original plants and hardwood trees survived. Currently, efforts are being made to restore the initial wood by allowing the original plants and trees to reestablish themselves, as well as gradually removing the softwood. This wood is very close to Pakenham.

This small village in Suffolk county has around 580 residents. It owes its name to its founder, Pacca, of Anglo-Saxon origin. At this point, we can see the village sign, featuring the images of its two most recognizable icons: its watermill and windmill. The village has a pub where we can make a stop to quench our thirst.

This church draws attention, primarily due to its cruciform shape, which is not very common in churches in the area. Furthermore, its tower is noteworthy, as it begins with a square base and then transitions to become octagonal.

To get to the church, you have to take a small driveway from the main street, which will lead you to the church and a small churchyard with the War Memorial. Regarding the church, the tower stands out, dating from the late 15th century.

This is the older of the two mills in the village of Pakenham, the watermill. Not just in Pakenham, but we're talking about the oldest operational watermill in Suffolk. Currently, it offers guided tours, and you can even purchase the flours they produce on-site. More information at: https://pakenhamwatermill.org.uk/

This is one of the two famous mills in the village of Pakenham, in this case, the windmill. Built in 1831 (though there are sources dating the construction back to 1820), this mill has been restored and maintained over time, with a notable restoration carried out after being struck by lightning in 1971.
