- The Monastery of Isenhagen is a former Cistercian convent and today's evangelical ladies' pen in Hankensbüttel in the district of Gifhorn in Lower Saxony. It is managed by the Klosterkammer Hannover. - It was built in 1243 as a monastic monastery of the Cistercians in today's Hankensbütteler district Alt-Isenhagen. - After it burned down after 16 years of existence, it was rebuilt in 1262 as a nunnery. - In 1329 the transfer to Hankensbüttel took place. At the present location Isenhagen from 1345 the third monastery was built. The Celle Duke Ernst the Confessor converted the monastery in 1540 in a Protestant lady pin. Very beautiful, historical ensemble. The oldest parts of the monastery date back to the Middle Ages. The monastery can be visited as part of guided tours. There is also an open day in the monastery garden once or twice a year. Be sure to plan a short tour or hike through Hagen, the former monastery forest, which borders the area to the west.
