On the occasion of a federal meeting of the Federation of Eichsfeld Associations, on June 17, 1964, the eleventh anniversary of the popular uprising of June 17, 1953 in the GDR, a boulder with the inscription "Eichsfeld divided / never" was unveiled in Duderstadt. In 1994, the memorial stone was relocated and the inscription changed. It now reads "Eichsfeld / indivisible". In addition, separated by barbed wire on the stone, are the two city names Duderstadt and Worbis/Heiligenstadt.

Built in 1424 as the Chapel of Our Lady of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it was expanded in 1700 to serve as the church for the newly founded Ursuline convent in Duderstadt that same year. In 1889, the medieval church was replaced by a Neo-Romanesque building, a project significantly supported by Georg Cardinal Kopp, Prince-Bishop of Breslau, who was born in Duderstadt. Today, the Church of Our Lady has been transformed into a modern place of worship, with the congregation gathering around its new altar in the center of the nave.
