Our museum is located in the Vierraden district of Schwedt. In a listed former tobacco drying barn, the cultural history of tobacco cultivation, the regional conditions and traditions in the Oder-Randow region, the tobacco trade and processing are presented. The non-smoking area also shows the health consequences of tobacco consumption. A large outdoor area with old agricultural equipment, machines and display beds invites you to linger. The exhibition is also available in English and Polish.

When you think of tobacco cultivation, you usually think of tropical islands or large South American farms, but less often of the Uckermark in northeast Brandenburg, although this is a tobacco-growing region with a 300-year tradition. In a former barn you can learn interesting facts about tobacco cultivation, processing and technology. Well worth seeing

You can trace the great times of Uckermark tobacco, especially here in Vierraden. In a listed old tobacco barn, the history of tobacco is clearly explained. With a bit of luck, employees will personally guide you through the museum and tell you stories from your childhood that were heavily influenced by tobacco cultivation. A special highlight of the museum is the beautiful gardens with a view of the Uckermark horse paddocks. Tobacco plantations can be seen on many display beds, which are framed by historical implements. Today only one company in Vierraden grows tobacco and perhaps one or two gardeners as an old hobby.

Here, 750 years ago, Cistercian monks began to use the water power of the small stream. Over the course of history and many wars, the mills were repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. The Salvey mill, which was owned by Geesower LPG and was still in use as a grist and sawmill until 1992, most recently ran using engine power. The solar pioneer Gerd Hampel then bought the mill in 1996 and installed a solar system to generate clean energy. He also set up a museum to preserve the mill as a technical monument of regional historical importance. The penultimate owners took over the mill in 2008 and founded a new association to ensure the mill's continued existence. The mill is now primarily used as an event location.
