The branch church of St. Martin in Westenhofen, a municipality of Schliersee in the Upper Bavarian district of Miesbach, was built between 1734 and 1737. The church, which stands below the so-called Kirchbichl (church hill), is a protected architectural monument. St. Martin served as Schliersee's parish church until 1884. The new Baroque building was constructed incorporating the late Gothic tower from 1529. During the renovation from 1973 to 1975, the vault paintings were restored. The main hall, with its recessed, semicircular choir, is covered by a lunetted barrel vault over square pilasters. The frescoes, created in 1737 by an unknown artist, depict scenes from the legend of St. Martin. The high altar was created in 1878 by Johann Marggraff in Neo-Renaissance style. The side altars were built in 1635 and slightly altered in 1878. The Rococo pulpit features allegories of faith, hope, and love on the sounding board. The pews feature nameplates dating from after 1767. [Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Martin_(Westenhofen) ]

Frank is certainly right if you make the journey for nothing. However, you enjoy a wonderful view of the lake. Excerpt from the Oberbuchberghof website: My name is Elisabeth and I live with my family on the 300-year-old Oberbuchberghof in Gasse near Gmund, above the Tegernsee lake. The Tegernseer Höhenweg trail with its beautiful views leads directly past us. I often dreamed of a small café with a farm shop where I could offer my cakes, spreads, and special items like homemade schnapps from the Oberbuchberghof, cards, small gifts, and the like. This dream came true a few years ago, and I opened the farm shop, which has become the place it is today through creativity, warmth, and down-to-earthness. We bake many things according to old family recipes, and the baking ingredients come from our garden or the region. Enjoy our small selection of fresh, homemade cakes from Wednesday to Saturday. We are also happy to offer you a delicious fresh breakfast in the morning. In addition, you can strengthen yourself with a warm soup or a small snack with homemade bread before or after a hike. I would be happy if you visit us in the farm shop, Your Elisabeth Taubenberger with family & the farm shop girls
