Beautiful view of the Lech from the path and the fishermen's boats

The short climb up from the Lech River is especially worthwhile in winter, when the deciduous trees don't obscure the view. Top view – 5 out of 5 stars!

The pilgrimage church of Vilgertshofen is one of the most important church buildings in the whole of Lechrain. The predecessor churches were already the destination of Marian pilgrimages and indulgence pilgrimages. A miraculous healing made the Vilgertshof pilgrimage flourish from 1674 to such an extent that a new, larger church soon became necessary. Commissioned by the Wessobrunn monastery, the master builder Johann Schmuzer built a church in the form of a cruciform central system between 1686 and 1692: the almost square crossing is adjoined by the choir with the main altar in the east, apses with side altars in the north and south, and the vestibule with the organ gallery in the west on.
