In the spring of 2013, the Ustersbach brewery entered into a cooperation with the Augsburg - Westliche Wälder e.V. Nature Park in order to protect the preservation of this butterfly's habitat and raise awareness among people. A first project is to set up a cycle path in this area. This cooperation to protect and preserve the home of the blue ants guarantees a regional, sustainable and environmentally friendly product for health and environmentally conscious people - in line with the trend of our time.

Witaquell bike path The cycle path takes you into the picturesque habitat of the “Witaquelle” Bluebell, a butterfly that enjoys European protection status and adorns the label of Ustersbacher mineral water. The observation footbridge is near Dietkirch directly on an oxbow lake from the Schmutter - a wonderful place for a picnic. On the round trip, the cyclist has a magnificent view of the idyllic Schmuttertal, the spacious Reischenau and much more. At the Ustersbacher brewery with brewing stüble and e-bike charging station or at the FeuerWerk in Fischach with a barefoot path, you can take a breather. The cycle path is also ideal for families with children aged eight and over because of the varied design with eleven stations for participating, learning, observing and moving. The route is mostly flat on gravel paths and tar roads. The tour can also be ridden with a hand bike.

A great experience for families Schmuttertal ”covers almost the entire FFH area of the same name with almost 900 hectares. The almost uneven Schmutter meanders for 36 kilometers from Fischach to Täfertingen and regularly floods the adjacent Schmutteraue. For a long time, these floods and the subdivision of the fields with numerous ditches were a guarantee that the Schmutterwiesen were only managed extensively. As a result, a high-quality habitat with numerous rare animal and plant species was preserved.
