July 1, 2026, View of Schloss Ort and Traunsee

Seeschloss Ort is located on a small island connected to the Toskana peninsula by an approximately 120 m long wooden bridge. It is the landmark of Gmunden. Until a few years ago, the spelling "Orth" was still common. On the left side of the inner courtyard, various flood marks are marked, according to which the flood in 1594 reached a height of 2.97 m in Seeschloss Ort and thus the top floor of the Wandelgang. The small castle chapel is dedicated to Saint James. The castle tower, behind which the much smaller church spire almost disappears, bears the year "1092". The altarpiece depicts "The Assumption of Mary", in which Saint James the Elder, the patron saint of the church, participates.

St. Wolfgang gained worldwide fame through the White Horse Inn (Weiße Rössl). It is ideal to stroll through the numerous narrow alleys and capture the beauty of the place.

Swimming beach located directly on the promenade. Not a classic beach with a lawn, but rather with a large wooden platform from which stairs lead into the water.

Enchanting lake and unusual landscapes for someone who, like me, lives in central Italy. A place to live in symbiosis with nature, hikes, cycle touring routes that nevertheless require good athletic and technical preparation.
