They advertised on Sunday's that they don't just do roast dinners but also sandwiches, perfect for a pre or post hike lunch. Excellent garden when it's warm and a covered terrace when it's cold. Good to book!

This obelisk, in the spot in Tring Park where a number of roads converge, is known as Nell Gwynn's Monument. In the 17th century, King Charles II is said to have been a frequent visitor to the Mansion in Tring Park, and apparently also his lover Nell Gwynn (as in extra-marital lover). However, it is not very likely that any of this is true as by the time this structure was erected for Sir William Gore (the owner of the Mansion) both Charles and Nell had been long dead.

There must be many St Bartholomew churches out there! This one dates back to the 12th century, but as is often the case with churches, different bits of it are from different times. And so, the west chamber is from the 15th century, and certain Weedon family gravestones from the 16th. The beautiful stained-glass windows were donated in the late 19th century by the Valpy family. These are very striking, and I am wondering if they will grab your attention as well?
