On November 6, 2016, there was a vote on whether Peuerbach would be merged with the neighboring communities of Bruck-Waasen and Steegen. The majority of the residents of Peuerbach and Bruck-Waasen voted in favor, the majority of the residents of Steegen against. Thus Peuerbach is merged with Bruck-Waasen. The merged community continues the name Stadtgemeinde Peuerbach.
