Pertisau am Achensee is located on the western shore of Lake Achensee, directly at the foot of the Karwendel Nature Park, Austria's largest nature park and one of the most beautiful mountain hiking areas in Europe. Pertisau is home to a main landing stage for the Achensee shipping company, and the renowned Tiroler Steinöl® (Tiroler Shale Oil) is also produced there. It is extracted at the shale oil works in the Karwendel Mountains and then processed into excellent skincare products. At the Tiroler Steinöl Vitalberg (Tiroler Steinöl Vitalberg), the shale oil museum in Pertisau, visitors learn all about the extraction and processing of Tiroler Steinöl. Due to its close proximity to the Karwendel Nature Park, the town is a good starting point for wonderful hikes or mountain bike tours. There are various alpine pastures with excellent food and drink! 😋🍺
