Ridden from east to west, start with a gravel doubletrack farm track that leads you down to the farmhouse before the track heads between the fields on a grassy path. There are lots of gates but you're never in the same enclosure as the livestock, which is just as well as there are lots of 'beware of the bull' signs!

I’ve met a number of walkers and horse riders along this route. Best taken easy to enjoy the view and encourage harmony between trail users.

Constructed in 1881, Kennick Reservoir covers 50 acres (20ha) and neighbours Tottiford and Trenchford Reservoirs. For those keen on fishing, it's worth knowing that Kennick is a premier rainbow trout fishery, and waterside access here is limited to anglers only, whereas you can walk around the edges of the other two reservoirs.

Running parallel to the road, a leafy diversion off-tarmac for a while. No gates, easy access for all.
