A good circular gravel track that is through a woodland. The track is solid but very lumpy with embedded bricks and rubble in places. Take it slow in places. Very popular with dog walkers. Worth a detour.

The pillar is located beside the footpath to Ringer’s Farm and visible from quite a ways off. It’s in generally good condition with all it’s metalwork in place. The view is wide open but only cultivated farmland.

Debden is a small rural village in the Uttlesford district of Essex. RAF Debden is nearby and played a role in the Second World War. Since 2007 the village has shared twin status with the village of Tang Ting in rural Nepal.

Stebbing is a small, historic village dating from at least the 11th century. A medieval motte & bailey castle stood to the east of the village on what is now called 'The Mount: The church is a grade I listed building and boasts one of only three stone rood screens in Europe. There are many timber buildings throughout the village including Prior's Hall, a grand 16th century house.

Debden is a lovely village, uphill from Saffron Walden. Also has two nice cafes close by - Elder Street Deli and Bonnefirebox (personally I prefer Bonnefirebox - less scenic surroundings but great cake and pizzas).

A nice downhill to Rook End Lane. Can get a bit lumpy as the track is used by 4X4s
