RV and tent pitches behind pub. Agree about the shower block, new and well-looked after. Also four double rooms available at £75 a night. Pub open every day from noon. Kitchen open for lunch and dinner every day except Monday. Great base for exploring the area.

The Parish Church of St. Nicholas, dating back to the 14th century, graces the village's High Street and commands a ridge with panoramic views of the River Crouch. The remarkable 15th-century tower, a distinctive landmark visible from afar, is attributed to King Henry V, believed to have been built in commemoration of his triumph at the Battle of Agincourt in France.

Climbs 30m with the steepest gradients just over halfway up. Very narrow and some debris down the centre of the road so pick your line.

The parish church in the village of Steeple doesn't have a tower, it has...you guessed it...a steeple.

Nothing much to write home about but useful if you need somewhere for a break in the middle of the peninsula.

Pleasant spot overlooking the green in Tillingham but set back away from the main road traffic.
