A flat walk but maybe muddy at times. so good walking boots would be wise.

When approaching 'The Staircase' in Plymouth, be prepared to dismount and walk your bike up the steps, as this section is not rideable [1]. To ensure safety, especially if you're wearing cycling shoes with cleats, consider switching to footwear with better grip or using cleat covers to prevent slipping. Additionally, be cautious of potential hazards like loose rocks or debris on the steps. An ait is an islet, usually called such when found on the River Thames or a tributary of it. This one is next to an army camp on the Basingstoke Canal, which is indeed a tributary of the Thames. I don't know who Roy is, but his islet is an interesting feature to see on a canal.
