Britain's oldest working windmill, built in 1665 by Thomas Budgen and now a Grade I-listed building.

My first time London to Brighton! Mid-Ride we decided to take a break at the Curious Pig. We received a warm welcome and a hearty roast dinner, reasonably priced! They had a section inside the pub to put our bikes, even better because it was raining heavily, so both us and the bikes could dry off πŸš΄πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Outwood Windmill is a Grade I listed post mill located in Outwood, Surrey, England. It was built in 1665 by Thomas Budgen, a miller from Nutfield in Surrey, and is Britain’s oldest working windmill. The mill is a post mill with patent shutters and has four sails. The whole body, weighing around 25 tons, rotates on a central post made of a single enormous oak tree, to bring the mill round into the wind. The mill is still operational and grinds corn when the wind is adequate.

Lovely off road route, great for kids. Gravel, but smooth enough and pretty level so I could cope on 23mm tyres. Also dry so ok for commute, though lots of runners and dog walkers so not the speediest. Wider tyres would be nicer for comfort though.

An interesting old building giving idea of the Worth Way's heritage as an old railway line.
