Bardney lock is located on the River Witham about 11 miles to the East of Lincoln. This trail follows the original path of the railway that linked the historic market town of Horncastle on the edge of the Wolds and Victorian resort of Woodhall Spa to the main line at Kirkstead. The line opened in 1855 with passenger trains stopping in 1952, with the line finally closing in 1971. Today the line is now a traffic free Spa Trail. Along the trail you will find interesting sculptures accompanied with stories about the line and its history.
