During the First World War, prisoners of war undertook extensive excavations in the beautiful urban Böhmewald forest. This work made it possible to renovate the existing small toboggan run on the steep edge of the Böhme Valley and to build a second toboggan run. A shared starting point was established on a newly constructed hill, from which both runs descend approximately 30 meters in length. Today, it is still possible to see where the soil for the starting hill was excavated. The impressive scale of the manual labor performed at that time is still palpable. The work began in the winter of 1914/15 and lasted over a year. On February 25, 1916, the runs were finally officially opened for the first time.

The monument illustrates the famous German-language song that unexpectedly became a hit far beyond the borders of the German-speaking world towards the end of the Second World War. All that's missing now is an audio installation.

In summer, you should take off your socks and use the water treading facilities. But be careful, it can be a bit slippery and it is definitely refreshing.
