Walk The Walk 🌳
March 14, 2026, Brailsford Church

All Saints church dates from the 12th century. It comprises a west tower, nave with south aisle, chancel and north vestry. It was restored between 1882 and 1883 when the galleries were removed. The walls and pillars of the church were scraped of plaster and whitewash. The stonework of the doors and windows was cleaned and restored by Mr. Walker of Ashbourne. The pews were removed and oak benches installed. The floor of the nave was relaid with oak blocks and the chancel was laid with Minton encaustic tiles.

The church is the venue for an amazing Remembrance exhibition; and there was tea and cake!

Osmaston Estate is a beautiful park with plenty of ancient woodlands to explore. It is well worth planning a route which ventures through this park. The sawmill is a beautiful building located by the lake and immediately adjacent to the footpath. It is surrounded by steep bank covered with a verdant forest of very tall trees. Parking is easy on the street in both nearby Shirley & Osmaston villages.
